Maiden 2020 Express Entry Draw invites 3,400 applicants to apply for permanent residency
Canada drew its first Express Entry, which witnessed 3,400 invitations to apply for permanent residence in the country. According to the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), the minimum score needed to be able to ascertain the eligibility for this invitation was 473, which was drawn on January 8. The points according to this system are awarded on the basis of important life factors like, education, skills, work experience, age, and proficiency in either English of French.
This express entry system was first introduced in 2015, which was the country’s major step in gathering a skilled force of foreign workers. This system allows foreign applicants to be clubbed under the same umbrella, despite their entry from the three federal high-skilled immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. Even though the eligibility criterion does not demand a job experience, however the CRS awards bonus points to the candidates with a job. There is a systematic method of drawing from the pools, which is conducted at every two weeks, and extends the invitation for the application to a group of high-scoring candidates. The complete procedure of the Express Entry System takes about six months of processing all the details and finalising the application.
The 2021 draw expects to see a rise of about 3000 applications from this year’s total of 85,800.
